JUST TAGGIN' ALONG

well, funny how things can take a change - tried to blog last night, but tooooo tired! had both services plus a memorial service at 12:30, then on to the house of the family for a reception - getting too old for all these extra services!

thought I'd get at it tonight, but am composing from the ER at St. Vincent's Hospital - Karina is in for a check for pain due to either Gall Stones, G. attack, or infection or blockage in the little tube that runs from the liver to the intestine and shares service with the pancreas.  yuk!  she's been going through this for about two weeks, and now the rubber is meeting the road and something is; going to be done.  anyway, she just laughed at my "shares service" comment, so she still has a sense of humor.  so now we wait - see if it is emergent (tonight/tomorrow) or can take a little time to to plan ahead (within the next week).  prayers are always welcome.  she's doing a "WonderWords" in the newspaper ... nope, she being wheeled off for an ultrasound.  see ya later.

quite a week here at 21110!  started doing projects!  built 3 more raised garden beds and got two filled with compost and soil.   even took pics to show you the progress.  I'm barely toweled off from all the perspiration and even less done with all my sympathy-gaining "ughs"; and she's got the beds planted and wondering when the next one will be finished!  can you believe that?  no time to breathe!  weather has been great for a hour or so at a time - then comes the downpours; then the sunshine;  then it's time to eat (YAY!)  but don't have time to take pics of the meals that are so quickly devoured, because "it's time to go outside, its' not raining!" by the way,  this is all said tongue-in-cheek, cuz' it's always a better story when dramatized to the full!

K busy at work

only 64 cu ft. more

planted already!

tomatoes, anyone?

and speaking of the drama, Immanuel, Spirit Lake was the recipient of some of my humor this past Sunday - please understand, it was not a derogatory story ... merely a compilation of the truth and what I heard ... heh, heh, heh.  anyway, it fit the text ... I'd never seen that aspect of the "Good Shepherd"  text before, but I really think that's what Jesus was talking about to the Pharisees - making the kingdom of God inaccessible to others ... so I took off on the wheelchair story, cuz' Mike has shared some of those realities; I hopefully was able to point out our own shortcomings when we get so comfortable with what we are doing - in worship or any ministry - anyway - had a lot of comments once again from those who took the time to ponder.  one thought I was angry - that was not the message I was trying to convey ...  anyway - may we always be about the ministry Jesus has given us to do - and not making the rules for "gatekeepers".  it's online if you want to take a listen.

having the back of the house worked on - the siding was improperly installed and wicking up the moisture from the deck into itself.  supposed to get the house painted now, but have to wait for the rain to stop, I guess.  the house really looks nice, however!
getting there

it's done, now
also have been blessed with birds that we haven't had before ... western tanagers!  what pretty birds; also goldfinch(es); tohees, some "crested" sparrows; even got a hummingbird in sight!  also have a nest in an overturned flower pot near our gardens ... both parents were twitting at me when I got so close ...
western tanager
goldfinch
hey, little hummer!
new hatch - 4 of them
made a trip to the dump, too!  Yikes!  $45.00 for my little pick-up load.  and that's because I put the wood/yard debris in the wood bin; the plastics in the plastic bin; the metal in the metal bin; and the alunumum in the how ever ya spell it bin!  It would have been $59.95 to have them "sort" it!  what a racket!  forgot to take pictures ... I think the smell was making me woozy.

and then, of course there's the sleep number bed!  I started as 60 and  have moved down to 55.  it's really a great bed.  we've slept like bats in the belfry?  I forgot the proper alliteration.  we hand a cabinet maker make the frame and headboard - we liked cherry, so that's what we got.  will keep you all informed on just exactly what goes on with our bed!  doesn't that sound like more information than you can handle!

also had a bike rodeo at church last Saturday and will be having a bike ride at one of the state parks this weekend ... weather permitting.

that's about it from here - have a great week!

by the way - we're home from the hospital awaiting an appointment with a surgeon tomorrow.

love ya.

  1. Wow! Dat's a lot of info and pix too. Were these all done while K was in ER? Anyway, always delightful to read what's going on in your lives. The raised beds look very inviting. Did you buy soil by the bag? Like how many? Beau coup - for sure.

We're 'farming' here too. Planting today - tender plants in the veggie garden and fleur gardens. I'd better scoot and do what I say! I'll listen to the sermon another time and see 'just what it is you are talkin' about.

  2. So, is the pillow on one of those raised garden beds for you to sleep in one of those box beds, Dan? Doesn't that get rather wet outside, or do you have some sort of umbrella rigged up out there, too? Just curious. Have you been naughty and Karina kicked you out of the new bed?

By the way, we shall pray for wisdom and skillful hands for all those who will attend Karina.

  3. yeh - a pillow of steer manure! (reminds me of an old Trombone solo of "Piece in Fa Minuer" - or something like that ...

As of today surgery is set for June 1st; if someone cancels before that, the possibility exists for sooner.

    thanks.

  4. Ew-w-w, 'steering' clear of the produce from those beds!

Rains coming tomorrow through next Wednesday, so, I'm 'hoofing' along today, sewing grass seed and finishing the rest of the mulching.

"A rose by any other name" still smelleth like manure. May the winds waft toward the neighbors, not your bedroom window.
