SUNNY SO-CAL part 1,2,3

Part 3 - HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
Thursday morning ... a recapitulation:

Sunday - time with M & C and Z - Bodhi was out for the count.

Monday - day spent with Micah and the boys - Carrie had to do to work for a part day;  Spent time getting to know the kids again;  a good deal of time on on the trampoline - think I expressed my re-leaning curve (on tramp) the other day.  Z and B are so fun to be around!  They really get along with each other very well.  Celebrated all four B-days at the restaurant that evening.

Tuesday - went to Balboa Park to a play structure area, then on to the Train Museum!  How cool was that?  You probably figured out our itinerary from the pictures ... After the 'jaunts' had a picnic lunch at the B.P. fountain. - Micah off to work at 7am - (done at 9pm).

Wednesday - with Carrie for a while; then she took Z to the barber, and we had some Bodhi time - brought him to a great place for lunch - a Jewish deli - D Z Akins - after lunch - K had Matza Ball soup - I had the Menu #66  Philly cheese sandwich ... stopped at the bakery and had to fill our pastry cravings!  check out the menu and see what they have to offer!  Amazing!

Part 2 - Tuesday picture update at end of this post!

Part 1 - We're out of Oregon!

Sunday at 2:15 we took the silver bird to head to C&M's in El Cajon.  Met at the front door with a big hug and kisses and "HI OMA and PAPA, Come on in!!!" from the Z-man.  Had dinner with the kids, and then headed off to the motel for a long, tiring - but rejuvenated - day.  Up at 5:30 with the Sunday puzzle on OPB, then to the shower and off to church at 7.  Karina came a little later, but of course - I forgot to pack my C-PAP - so she was late for choir rehearsal ... and reminded me of it - heh, heh.  I of course zoned it out somewhere between wake-up and leave for church.  Anyway, she was gracious enough to save the day, so that we could take off from church at noon and be to the airport for our 2:15 flight.  All went well - even got a sermon posted on the PoP website between services!  Finished second service ... trying not to dawdle ... and K says, are you going to change clothes?  I said, sure, where are they?  What? My clothes?  Didn't you bring them?  No. I thought you did.  No problem - let's get going and buy some jeans in CA, if I need some.  OK, fine!  (she) I think we have time to go home and you can change.  Naw, let's just go.  No let's go home and you can change.  So we go home.  I change clothes, grab the Sunday crossword, and off we go to the airport.  It takes a little long on our end to get down the Sunset Hwy, so by now we're thinking, "sure hope there aren't a lot of people flying today ... this is taking more time than we planned for.  Well, we get to the Park-n-Ride Shuttle service and off to the airport and check it, and it's about 1.  Maybe a little after ... I don't look at the clock, cuz' I really don't want to know if we're OK or not OK.  It takes more than the normal amount of time at the TSA guys, then their scanner breaks down and we have to go through another scanning machine; finally get into the travel side of the terminal and I look at my watch.  Lo and behold we've got plenty of time to spare - plus we only have to wait at the gate for less than 10 minutes.  After we start talking about the process to each other, K reminds me that she felt like she was suffering heart pain and raised blood-pressure all the way out, because she wasn't so sure about our arrival, either.  But Gods provides and we only spent a couple hours of useless energy trying to change things we have no control over - to which, I think I can safely say: we're getting better.  The flight - stopover at Santa Rosa, didn't deplane - offers Northwest wines and beers (all free) so that took care of my stress level!  And what a lovely Pinot Noir it was!

Got into San Diego around 6, got a car from Thrifty (a Chrysler 200 - pretty gutless engine) and out to the kids by about 7:30.  Had burgers for dinner; talked awhile - well, listened to Zephyr talk a lot - read a story - didn't get to see Bodhi (he was out for the count when we got there) and chatted till the sandman took over my eyes!

Came back this morning and greeted at the door with, "OMA, PAPA, come on in.  We're having PANCAKES!" And we were treated to Micah's blueberry specials, with fresh juiced oranges and apple juice.  Pretty tasty!  Micah had the day off so we stayed home and visited - even made it out to the trampolene and bounced each other around.  Found out I can barely STAND on a tramp anymore, much less do the actions.  I tried to bounce and do a seat drop, thinking I'd be back on my feet like in the olden days at Aurelia (which I think is the last time I was on a tramp).  well, no no nanette!  This ole body don't bounce in the same way it did 50 years ago!  But I sure thought it would be the same!  Oh well, another project off my bucket list.  Bodhi has a wonderful personality - comes pretty freely to us - a huge grin - has been walking for about a week and a half.  Will talk more of him on a later blog.

Tonight we celebrated birthdays for all four of them at an Italian restaurant.  They went home and we back to the motel - I'm doing this, K is working on paperwork from "work" that still needed completion.

sorry, no pictures - let my camera at Micah's - will add pics next time I update.

  2. Happy Thanksgiving to our West coast families! Glad you could be together for an extended period. Loved the pictures of the boys -- they are growing, as all kids do! Looks warm and sunny there -- we had 68 degrees on Wednesday and down to 24 today. Talk about a wake-up call!
