SPRING IS HERE!!! and then some

I started this blog a few days ago, but it wouldn't allow me to add pictures ... can't figure out the problem ... will try to complete this from another computer and see what happens ...

What great weather we've had since returning from the Midwest.  We got home and the temps hit 90 - first time since 2009 that we've hit 90 in May.  Been in the 80s all the other days and just gorgeous!  Nice breezes, cools down to the 40s at night - perfect for me!

When we got home, though the lawn was crying out "cut me! cut me!"  Fortunately Karina had a little extra time that Tuesday night (I had Council) and it looked wonderful.  The next day I walked through the yard and spotted the following:

at least four Rhododendrons,

three Hydrangas

two rose buds, and a

marionberry blossom on the vine!

so the yard looked pretty spiffy.  this weekend, however the marionberries are totally white with flowers; the roses are filled with blooms, and the cherries are getting bigger!

We had 15 days of no rain - even got to 90 once - but yesterday it started raining again!

Fun day in worship ... we celebrated Ascension ...

and the Worship Arts Committee had been at it again ...

they "arrayed" tulle(?) from the cross to the front of the chancel to produce a visual effect:
motion; clouds; "the train of his robe filling the temple with glory" (one of the songs we sang)

it never takes much to impress me - but this was IMPRESSIVE!  I just kept looking at it every opportunity I had!  It was kind of funny - at Bible Class (before I arrived) folks were talking ... was it something for the wedding coming up this weekend???  and you know, that even works in you get to Christ, the Bride ...  So once again the WACs came through!  One odd piece happened - the tulle was between the projector and the wall, therefore a little tricky to see the works ... so I added another conclusion ... "though we see through a glass dimly, some day we shall see face to face..."

Then at the end of the second service we processed out on the final song: "Lord, I lift your Name on High" and went to the front door.  A 'cage' of butterflies had been on display as people came in, and at the end Jeff handed each of the kids a butterfly and at the designated moment they let them go - a perfect end to the Ascension worship.  Good news - great Ascension ... bad news - it was raining so people kinda stayed inside ... but I liked it!

that's about it from your Ascension (Sun)Day excitement!

except for the cross-making project - we give "graduation crosses" to Kindergarten kids at other schools around us (Lutheran schools) and this year we ended up making 165 of them!  A good group showed up to finish off about 60 of them - the others had been done last weekend.  Each cross has a child's first name on it; and a little tag "from you brothers and sisters at Prince of Peace."

Love ya.
