Benjamin Franklin, that is.
there are only two certainties in this world, death and taxes.
spent a small portion of my day THINKING about doing taxes; fortunately, our good friend, Mary D,
from Auburn WA, does our "heavy" work (all but the paying, that is) and it makes it so
much simpler for us. It must be 15-20 years ago I got audited, and still shudder at the
thought that something might not be right. Mary got me out of the that audit unscathed,
and I've worked with her ever since. We have an ongoing "tease" about how many
dinners I owe here for the past several years, since we don't see each other very often anymore.
she used to be in Oregon in the same circuit when we lived in Roseburg.
the back yard has taken on a new appearance - a loss of tree ... boo hoo hoo. 'twas once a
fine corkscrew willow that grew at the back of our lot - however PGE determined it was
heading for their power lines and left us with a simple option - either we could remove it (at our expense),
or they would take it down. always feels great to have some control over major decisions in life, huh?
looks really open to the "back 40." I'm sure we'll get used to it.
Tuesday morning before work ...
Tuesday evening after work ...
Wednesday
YIKES!
but nice to see the fence ... I guess.
this is spring break around here - pretty quiet on the home front; weather is still RAINY, our back yard is saturated. Karina got out last Saturday and did some massive yard-work, I joined her for a bit, but I never try to let it be fun - as she does so well. (makes it fun, that is)
last week, being a day of our Irish heritage (NOT!), I was treated to a marvelous corned beef, cabbage, and
potato/carrot/onion/garlic/spice/etc. FEAST! Since K can't have it (the aging of the meat and vinegars give her migraines) I enjoyed it ALL - but mind you in four separate meals! I'd show you a picture, but it
would have to be a picture of my belly - so I'll spare your the horror!
found a neat story about the Holy Spirit by Corrie Ten Boom for the sermon last Sunday; it's
already posted on our website - you can get to it if you click on the left margin area (on the blog, now)
that says: pop online ... you know the rest - Church/Sermons/Lent 2.
Isn't a hand in a glove just the perfect picture?
that's it for now - Travelers, I hope you all arrived safely and returned - and had
a marvelous time in-between!
love ya all.

The tree/backyard pictures remind me of the evening we spent with you when the ENTIRE yard was covered in enormous logs! Too bad Silas wasn't there to help move any this time!
ReplyDeletehow true - I remember that one also! I miss my "work-crew"; have to get rid of this stuff myself this time - and with no one to 'organize' and 'grade' it, as did Silas, it won't be easy! tell S. Hi from K and D!
ReplyDeleteYour gray skies captured in your tree/treeless accounting are quite similar to the sky we have today/yesterday/tomorrow. Horizontal blowing snow - no accumulation (yet), but unpleasant winds and chill. Hello...it's still March!
ReplyDeleteWe just attended Wednesday noon church and listened to 'the glove'. Great analogy...great message and delivery. We heard Pastor Noah this weekend in person. So, that was a joy also.
