LAZY DAY

it truly was a lazy day.

breakfast with the "gang" - scrambled eggs,  baked/fried polenta, homemade bread, multiple fruits,
sausage and coffee, orange/pineapple juice.

then slowly off to the beach.  were told of a beach about 5 minutes from the house, but took me 15 minutes to find it!  naturally I made it look like we were sightseeing - when all along I'm thinkin ' where's this Manini Beach?

had rented snorkel gear from our B&B; so were ready to rumble!  got to the little park (not named on most Hawaii information books), and it was delightful.  swam for about 15-30 minutes and saw all kinds of corals, yellow fish, blue fish, black fish, striped fish, dotted fish, lazy fish, hungry fish, roaming fish, coupled fish, blue fish with yellow, black fish with orange, turquoise fish with a lovely yellow wash, a ray, yellow fish with black backs and white 'false eyes' - very clever anti-predatory costume,  but mostly yellow fish.  Thought I was in the Cabela's aquarium.  I made it out past the reef the second time we went, and that's when I saw the ray. looked like a diving bird with such flexible wings(fins?).  Really cool!  Water temp must have been 80 - at least it was warm.  Spent the rest of the time on the beach watching the hundreds of Kayakers, and snorkelers, and standing boarders, and divers, and party-ers.  Later in the day we were joined by our Medford friends, Roger and Fay and we both watched a native (can you say that?) cast his hand net into the sea.  All he got was his net washed. probably 15 minutes to get it ready, another 15 minutes to stealthily stalk the fish, and then  one throw, and it was over.

ate dinner at a GREAT place called "Mi's" - Italian - with no Hawaiian touch.  just great food.

will include some pics to recall the day ...

  1. Great fabric colors! Was it decorator weight or quilting weight? Looks like a heavier weight - esp since it was on rolls rather than bolts. Hope you bought yourself a souvenier! A lazy day on the beach. Beautiful! We are trying very hard to not be jealous! We are - instead - all agog about our predicted (and much anticipated) 30 degree temps for the weekend.
