yes!

early in the evening, and enjoying the back yard! with the way the summer has been coming at us, the foliage got ahead of us ... boy did it ever! Got home this evening and Karina was choppin' away at the wisteria, and vine maple, and yellow-twigged dogwood, and an "I-don't-know-what-it-is" bush. anyway, filled up the yard debris barrel and then some. have to let it cook in tomorrows sun to dry up and settle down. just saw Karina hauling off a bundle of wisteria ... guess I missed more than I picked up.

just talked to Kristi - she's making her way west on Sunday nite to be with us; right now she's a a cabin on the Snake River (I think in Idaho - maybe Montana) with her Africa group. what fun for her.

probably one or two more pickings of marionberry - then the crop will be done. got lots this year - for jam, muffins, freezing, etc. feel like a regular Farmer Dan. don't tell anyone.

beatifiul evening - nice breeze, the smell of Bar-B-Q - which means, I'd better turn the burgers.

enjoy your day. g'nite.

  1. I can understand the pruning efforts going on at your abode. It seems everything in Portland grows freely and quickly. We can only say that about the corn, the weeds, children and the mosquito crop. Gardening is fun - and especially when you have someone to do it with.

We had burgers last night too...only Mark used the George Forman as it was "stinkin' hot" (Ben's term) and humid. Green salad w/ fresh cukes and tumblin' tom tomatoes jazzed up the burger!

Give Kristi a big hug from us. We thought of her as the car headed to Boise last week. We both commented on her 'very long' drive to come back to Portland. Does she normally fly? Hope you have a great time together and makes some new memories.

We are looking forward to next Tuesday when Rhoda and nephew Mark are coming for the day.

We escaped another storm last night and only had 1/4" of rain. We are super saturated right now, so we were relieved. We were in a tornado watch until 4:00 AM so M/J slept in the basement w/ radios, scanner, candles, etc close at hand. SOuthern MN got the storms....60 MPH winds. Hail?

Vines in the garden (canteloupe, watermelon) are increasing in size. Tomatoes are turning. We even have a volunteer pumpkin vine in our 'debris' pile!! That will be fun.

Time to face the day. Your posting is great! Are you ready to add more 'followers'?

Oh, and I promise not to put anything unbefitting to a minister and his wife on my comments, when and if allowed to join.

    Love, R
