it's two minutes until tomorrow as I begin this message. thought I might miss a day, but phew! - it never happened.
"Mary and Martha" was well received, was even given some positive strokes for not raggin' on Martha by describing her with the gift of hospitality! that appeases all work-a-holics and brings refreshing smiles in the receiving line!
after church went home and got ready for a "quick" trip to Auburn WA (?185 miles - 3+ hour trip). knew we were going to be at niece Stephanie's 30th B-day party (in a park) and knowing it was to start between 4:30 and 5:00 we took off about 1:00. gorgeous weather, and flew down the Sunset (US26) and up I-5 in fine stlye, and then, by Jantzen Beach there were taillights coming on. Well, low and behold, some ?sailor decided to go out for an afternoon sail on teh Columbia River and managed to have to raise the I-5 bridge for passage, and we sat there for about 45 minutes!

the counter weights are supposed to be up!
thinking that would probably take care of all our problems of travel, northward we went! wouldn't you know today was also the airshow at Lewis/McChord Joint Base ... last years crowd drew 100,000 people ... this year who knows ... but I-5 in Washington looked a lot like I-5 in Oregon some hours earlier!

traveling 0-5 mph - and only HEARD the noise of the airshow ... never saw a thing!
the only difference here was people weren't getting out of their cars! so now, knowing we'll be late we call Karina's mom, Dorothy to let her know ... we had to go to Tacoma first to pick her up to go to the Auburn party. not really paying attention to a clock, I think we pulled into her place about 6 - at least a hour and a half late! Undaunted we traveled to the party.
lovely faces ... Stephanie, Grace and Karina
what fun! The birthday girl and her daughter Grace, husband Kevin, and about 15 others were there. I dined in the presence of Biblical royalty! Really! a set of triplets 3 years old named Isaiah, Josiah, and Micah! two prophets and a king! how's that for rubbing shoulders with fame!
with cute kids come cute stories ... when the triplets were about a year younger, they happened to be at Stef's house and saw Stef changing Grace. Noticing that there was something different between the boys and Grace, one commented "she's got her bottom on backwards!" no doubt one of the prophets spoke those words of wisdom. I see sermon fodder in that profundity! heh, heh!
two prophets and a King - I, J, and M
the park also had a wonderful view of Mt Saint Helen's big brother, Mount Rainier! if I can get this blog to work right, I'll include some of those pics also.
Mt. Ranier - how grand!
well, the ole clock in the corner of my computer screen is telling me it's 12:38AM. Darest I believe it?
g'nite.
Wow!
ReplyDeleteThat was a great blog. I checked yesterday to see if you 'uploaded' Martha Martha but it was not there....you were still basking in the receiving line positives. You know I'm pretty sure I'd be a Martha. I think your mom and Rhoda are Mary's and my mom is a Martha. I took the Myers Briggs so many years ago and so many times. I can't remember what I am other than an I rather than an E!!
So, those pictures of the traffic JAM make us SOOOO happy to be home in flatland Iowa. We were equally thankful to be home Friday night rather than Sat night as there was a horrific storm that blasted through the Lakes region between 10-midnight Sat. Check out this link for some pix: www.exploreokoboji.com
We escaped unharmed. A flower pot tipped over on the balcony and several flowers were snapped off at ground level. Camp was littered with branches and limbs. Lots of boats and hoists and tree damage in the area.
You did reallly well with the picture upload, so now you assignment is to upload a movie. Make it short so you don't have to wait and wait and wait.
We are back on schedule w/ the walks in the am. I also got to walk with my friend Darla already today. I'd purchased a Sister's cap for her which she liked. We had a lot of gabbbbbing to do so our 2.5 miles went fast!
Nothing blog worthy is happening here! I'm missing Karina's muffins so I'm hankering a trip to buy raspberries or pick them so I can make a 'lame attempt' to replicate the tang and sweet of those delights.
Karina: I have read 2 of the 5 books you loaned me. I've started #3 already too! LUV THEM!!!
great photo of Rainer too!
