A Little August 8th addition ...
Must have hit the summer blahs ... 'cuz my brain is dead!
When I get older losing my
hair, (not really)
Many years from now, (HAH!)
Will you still be sending me a valentine
Birthday greetings bottle of wine?

Many years from now, (HAH!)
Will you still be sending me a valentine
Birthday greetings bottle of wine?
…
Doing the garden, digging the
weeds,
Who could ask for more?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me,
When I'm sixty-four?
Who could ask for more?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me,
When I'm sixty-four?
…
Send me a postcard, drop me a line,
Stating point of view.
Indicate precisely what you mean to say
Yours sincerely, Wasting Away.

Give me your answer, fill in a form
Mine for evermore
Will you still need me, will you still feed me,
When I'm sixty-four?
Whoo!

Must have hit the summer blahs ... 'cuz my brain is dead!
Reminds me of an old "autograph book" (remember them???) that said ...
Can't think.
Brain dumb.
Inspiration won't come.
Poor ink.
Bum pen.
Best wishes.
Amen.
Or something like that.
And that's about it from here....
just kidding!
The summer has been good to/for us - with Karina home it's really a treat!
The community gardens are looking amazing - and the 10% return from the gardeners to the CARE TO SHARE has been a real treat for all involved. Every Friday morning there's a huge box filled to the brim with lovely veggies and other plantings. The recipients (often the same families week after week) are truly pleased to receive something other than canned this and canned that.
the first of the rutabagas
? and Nina - but proud of her crop!
Back in June we went to the coast to "get the stink blown off" and traveled to the 'Three Capes' area of the coast and made it to two of them - Cape Lookout and Cape Meares (didn't get to Caper Kiwanda). Beautiful day; did 5+ miles of walking so were pretty well de-stinked by the time the day was over. The scenery was beautiful!
on the way to Cape Lookout
almost there!
don't look down - at Cape Lookout
"the old man and the sea"
"Octopus" Tree at Cape Meares
lighthouse at Cape Meares - half clear/half red
not used since vandals got to it a few years ago
Was a great day at the ocean! Warm, but mainly a forest walk to get to the places we saw.
Spent one weekend doing marionberries - making juice for marionberry liquor; and marionberry muffins and marionberry jam - yum yum! And here's the chief preparer ...
and to complete the berry-making ...
and one last thing. we installed a memorial window(s) around the front door of the church in June also. It was designed by a member, who was on the art department (retired) at Concordia Portland for many years. It is a beautiful addition - but probably means that the entryway now needs remodeling! hah!
now getting ready for a Kristi wedding ...
that's about it from the left coast.
love ya.
Karina and Dan
Welcome back to the blog-o-sphere. Your videos would be not be so herky jerky if you would hit the upload video 'button' rather than the 'image' button. I'm re-doing the same issue on my blog as I type these words! I'd like to hear what Karina is 'sayin'!
ReplyDeleteOther than those unrequested thoughts, your trip looked interesting and fun...and the marionberry spread looks terrific.
Would you care for an Iowa zuke?
I tried and tried and tried to get the vids to load - took an hour and they still hadn't made it; ergo - I made the "Karina on coffee" videos! BTW, that's pretty much how she looks these days! (just kidding, K). If I get around to it, I'll get them changed ... I guess if I wait another month it might get done!

Well, alright now. That was MUCH better! Are you going to leave the 'Koffee Karina klip' on the blog as a distraction or an indicator to your audience that you FIXED the problemo?
ReplyDeleteYou never answered me about the zuke!
The jam/muffins/ligueur array looks impressive and plentiful.
What's the noise in the background? oven fan?
KW: I will have MAW read the irrigation post! Tnx for the heads up.
You guys are doin' great!
Hi Judy!
ReplyDelete1) I had to convert the vid into an mp4 (it was an avi) - I've never had to do that before ... ever encountered that?
2) we already have 25 pounds of zukes; though an Iowa one might LOOK different, my guess is they TASTE the same, ergo - thanks, but no thanks!
3) the noise is floor fans, window fans, oven fan and anything else that breaks the wind ... oops, a poor description.
4) thanks for the warm fuzzy ;)
1. Nope
ReplyDelete2. 25 lbs? seriously...how many seeds did you plant?
3. I c
4. U are welcome
5. You post looks less erratic...which I know has always been one of your goals.
6. Community Gardens A+
1) in case you ever do, here's the app you want: http://www.ytddownloader.com/ it's free, I actually bought the "pro" update ... I use it that often (allows you to do more than one at a time).
ReplyDelete2) just one plant - the response has been huge!
5) not sure how to take that?!?! don't know if I should be insulted or elated???
6) they are a blessing! and so fun to watch the "conversations" as different folks arrive to tend to their plots! probably does more for building relationships than any "program" or "Check-Out-This-Idea" we could ever have come up with! I'd recommend it to anyone who has such thoughts/concepts in mind! It really works! People start talking gardening and sharing ideas and before long it turns to "you know, when I was younger, I..." and the stories begin.
5. elated!
ReplyDelete6. very cool
Hellllooooo!??? Anyone home?
ReplyDeletewhy yes I am! still contemplating the next issue!
