Yes it is!
We're getting closer to having a back yard as we anticipated some two summers ago. The 'scapers came back and got a few more pieces in place ...
new raised bed on SW corner of lot
the "ghost of the garden" won't always be there :)
Sunny checking out the new pathway to the gate - he
doesn't even notice the ghost behind him ...
overlooking the area from back yard.
We really like the new appearance! Y'all gotta come a see it! We hired Neil, a young man going to college to spread compost over the whole garden area (ordered 7 yards); and when he finishes, it will be perfect.
Harvested all the peas, most of the kohlrabi, marionberries, one tree of apples.
the beans are just starting, as are the eggplant; and also the tomatoes - a ton of green ones, no reds, yet.
has been fun having all the snack food only a few steps away.
So, as my dear sister reminded me ... 63 ... arrived without fanfare. Thanks for the calls - talked to everybody in the fam sometime during the day. Karina had a meeting Wednesday evening, but was good enough to bring home a DQ ice-cream cake for the occasion! YUM YUM!!! Every pound I've lost in my exercise program will be reappearing soon! I've always wondered where the poundage goes when you lose them - I think it's to cyberspace - only to be retrieved when the sinful eating habits resume. Least that's the way it seems to work for me! Ha.
Last Sunday we were given tickets to the Timbers (MLS - soccer) game. They had season tckts in the 5th row, and since they were on vacation, gave them to us. What a treat! I'm not really into soccer, but just being there was really fun. A couple of pics will show you what we, and 20,000 others were able to see as the T's played Dallas (final score, 1-1) -
pregame - the team is escorted out by the youth league soccer players - each youth is given the jersey of the player escorted ...
5000 (or so) onlookers
activity from the "Timber Army" when we scored
some of the noise - the "Army" doesn't stop chanting throughout the whole game ... PLUS
one stands throughout the game - you only sit at halftime ... to which I say "So why do you buy seats to the Timbers games?" Next to Karina are Jonathon and Jeff Kranich - our Family Life Min.and his son (we invited them to share the tickets).
also spotted this fellow (hawk) in the back yard, looking for a meal
can you see him?
pretty cool, huh?
A little excitement yesterday. Karina had her wallet stolen from her office; it was found in a trash can by a bus-stop about a 1/2 mile from her work; we lost a couple credit cards and a Costco card ... whatever good that would do ... They did rack up about $1400 at Safeway, Walmart, Walgreens, a couple of gas stations, a couple coffee shops, and Sears - before she knew they were gone and could all be canceled (about 2 hours). Fortunately, we're not responsible for the charges that we didn't make. Good news, this time, by finding her wallet her ID and Driver's Lic, etc. were all intact. All the accounts were resolved/dissolved and re-established by 10 this morning. There's also a security camera above her office door - hopefully that may show the activity as well.
That's about all the excitement I needed for one week!
Till next time -
we love ya.
Karina and Dan
Here's one more Happy Birthday wish from us! The ice cream cake sounds like a great way to celebrate!
ReplyDeleteThe backyard is coming along and continues to look good. What will you do when it's complete? Another project already in the works?
Love you both!
The backyard does look wonderful, but we thought it looked good 2 yr ago also. So....what will be in the 'ghost' raised bed (1st pix?) Veggies? Fleurs?
