We are alive! and Kicking!
I sure lost track of time as well as of my senses! Though it seemed like nothing was going on, everything was going on! I'm actually at the Oregon Pastor's Conference in Eugene. Just got back from the worship service at Grace - (came here many times when we lived in Roseburg) - so it was a bit like old times ... except after 13+ years of not being here, the "old" folks - who were a bit older when I knew them are no longer here, but have been replaced with a new set of "old" folks - and they look a lot like me! ouch! Oh well. Time moves on.
Was part of a triumvirate (3 presenters) at the LWML Spring Rally last Saturday for our circuit; I felt a bit out of place - PoP doesn't have an LWML ... The theme was "What's Your Flavor?" - dealt with worship - friend, Daniel Faragalli (good German name, huh) did the portion on Traditional Worship; Paul Frerichs (was at Immanuel, Waterloo) did Blended Worship (by the way, he just took a call to Texas and will be leaving in May/June); and I did a part on Vibrant Faith worship - what we do here at PoP. Here we spent all our time on worship formats, history, etc. (and I was impressed with how it came off) - and all the questions that we fielded at the end - maybe eight or so - all asked about "Close Communion" - we obviously didn't make any impressions on worship! Such is life. Moral: know your crowd before you start speaking!
I feel a need to share some pictures, so ... here's a pictorial tour of the back yard

I'm having a hard time picturing this area. Where are the door(s) that lead out to the backyard?
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great set-up for great productivity.
Looking forward to your arrival.
this is the area down off the kitchen ... if you're on the exercise equipment you are looking toward the TV and the back sliding doors to the patio.
DeleteNotice how the wine bottle is in the center on the pictures? Empty? Partially empty/full? Reminder to buy more? Easier to reach quickly than turning the chair to extract one from the wine cooler? Just sayin'...............
ReplyDeleteSo, what was your 'go to' answer on Close Communion??? Chin up; Eternal Life will soon be here!
See you 2 a week from Thursday night!!! S'pose there'll be Brownies on the counter? Hint-hint!!! Actually, that'd be a request from Larry; I don't imbibe anymore.
good eye, Sis! though it never occurred to me - you've led me on a whole new journey with three great opportunities! maybe compu-sip-cise, or exer-sipping, or compu-cising (if I only do two of the three).
DeleteAs to my "go-to" on CC - I think we've had that conversation before - and it too, is an answer that becomes a journey. So I'm willing to walk with anyone who asks!

Rhoda -
DeleteI read "Still Alice" today; wow! I've already raved it to my friends, and they're asking "where do you get it?" My guess, there'll be a glut on the market tomorrow - 2 will be sold! My field of influence isn't so big, huh.

Oh, I really like the CC answer. I appreciate seeing things as a journey, no matter the subject. ...And, if you take the walking literally, conversing with someone as you walk - that's a good mental image. It so reminds me of walking slowly with Dad to the Camp Okoboji lakeshore, from where we stayed in the Old Camp Store to the swimming area - quietly discussing whatever was on the heart that particular day. Thank you for that step back in the memory bank; it was a good one.
Deleteand speaking of walking, when I was working on Monday I even changed my desktop picture to the one called "Emmaus" (that I used for the background for Sunday's homily). It is a gorgeous picture - it substantiates (not sure if that's the right word ...) the thoughts you were sharing about your CO walks with dad. I'll even share the URL, if you want to see it ... http://web.me.com/danielbonnell/Site_15/Painting_42.html ... and I won't use a hyperlink, cuz' I don't know how to do that in a reply - just in a blog.
