I COMPLETELY FORGOT TO WRITE!!!

here it is, TUESDAY night, and I've not added to this blog.  too many things happening, evidently.  can't claim dry-walling as an excuse, but will search for anything else I can get!  K and I have been working vigorously in the back yard for more hours than I want to remember.  Still a-waiting PGE to come and finish their stump removal - the same tree they started three months ago still isn't done!  we need to get it out of it's spot so that we can carry on with our landscaping.  normally  you'd think we'd be able to work around it, but it stands where the first portion of yardwork has to begin.  it stands where the drain line will leave our back yard.  PGE has been here twice in the past 10 days - the first time they had the wrong saw - only a 24" blade; (the stump is about 5' x4') the next time it still didn't work; said they'd call this week to "get 'er done!"  we'll see.  even had to cancel the stump grinder guy. and no, PGE doesn't include stump removal in their process.

took pictures of the "before" back yard; will post them as the yard changes.  am getting excited to see the changes.  spent the last two evenings (after the temp came done) 'sealing' the stone patio.  really looks cool with its shiny gloss!  Have to do it every other year, I think.

we went to Fry's on Sunday afternoon to get Karina a new laptop!  fun! fun!  still haven't gotten it out of the box - so that shows our other time demands as well.  Did buy 2010 Microsoft Office for her computer and my netbook and office comp.  got it installed and hope to have it as 2nd nature to me as soon as possible.   looks like some nice changes with the upgrade.

had a good crowd in worship on Sunday - had been missing quite a few for the past several Sundays.  many comments on the message; always fun to see how/what people hear;  more fun to go back and listen to hear if I really said what they heard ... did I say THAT?  sometimes I have no idea where they quote what they thought I said.

met with our new school director, Lenetta, today.  will install her on Sunday.  she comes to us from Fairbanks, Alaska -  formerly from Portland; been "way up north" for the last 8 years.  She actually was a member of Oscar Marquardt's congregation (Ascension in Gresham) for many years;  think she said he married them and baptized their first 2 children.  her dad and Glodene are in the same retirement facility - according to L, G's doing better than she's ever remembered!

Tomorrow nite my lovely bride is taking me out to "Les Miserables" for my b-day!  how cool will that be? she's sooo good to me!  we'd seen the OPB special on "Les Mis" during spring telethon week; thought how great it would be to see the traveling show, and lo and behold, it came to Portland this week!

then have a wedding rehearsal and wedding this weekend; kids of a member couple -  the venue is downtown at the Armory; rehearsal dinner and reception are downtown as well.  cute couple (mid 20's - but they still look like KIDS!)

AND - this Saturday our "walk with PoP" group is going downtown on a geological walk;  saw it in the Oregonian listed as: "...a one-day walking tour through downtown Portland to learn about architectural building stones.  Come see billion-year-old building stones and the fossils hidden under our feet."   "sounds like fun, huh?  check it out here:  Virtual Tour - figure I had about 3 un-agenda-ed hours left this week, and they just needed to be filled.

also having fun with the next Gospel lesson - Peter walking on the water; the storm reminded me of my old Okoboji days ... as you will hear ...

love ya all.

  1. Well, we went to church yesterday morning and listened to loaves and fishes! :) :) We will be interested in hearing about Peter walking on the water - storm...etc. Do you remember that print we had hanging in our CO house that we 'borrowed' from the CO's art gallery. I wonder where those pieces are now. Don't forget the fog story and hanging on to a dock all night til morning light.

Your week of busy tires me. But, busy or tired, I'd sure crank myself up to see Les Miz again. You're gonna love it! The music will stay with you til the 8th and beyond!

The Portland downtown tour sounds incredibly interesting. Do you have to pay, or is it a freebie? We can expect a paragraph summary next week? More?

Here's hoping PGE gets it right the next visit.

  2. ...and regarding Peter's walk on the water, my all-time favorite is from the book, "If You Want to Walk on Water, First Get Out of the Boat." If you haven't read the book, or at least the section on the walk, might want to check it out.

Thanks for the landscaping update -- we'll look forward to seeing the demise of el stumpo.
