NEVER TOO OLD TO LEARN ...

well, it happened again.  the old preacher learned another lesson about the Ascension.  If you listen to the sermon you may gain the wisdom (probably slight as it is) that I had never realized before.  I guess the piece I learned was pretty simple.  my thought going into the preparation was "why?"  I always appreciated the miraculous power of the event but never was able to relate it to people - other than the happening certainly "certifying" the deity of Jesus.  but I think I see it now - the "wait" for the 10 days was for the disciples to ponder, reflect and grow ... and for us as well.  as I looked back over the several months of changes here at PoP, especially what I have been realizing as a 'separation' from a former congregational dream, I realize that though I am still grieving ... that's OK!  Though nobody else may understand what I was trying to preach about, preaching to myself first (as I always do) I think an awareness was begun. thanks, God!

'nuf of that theological stuff.  Karina is well on the repair.  Was able to get out for a short walk every day; and even tried simple gardening tasks ... watering and de-fruiting the pear trees (I think it's called something like 'thinning' out the pears - I just asked K).  she oversaw me planting the tree and working on the pre-plant of the blueberries - will be waiting until the gardens are hardscaped before they make it to their final destinations.  that sounds kind of depressive, doesn't it?  oh well ...

the crop is thriving!  besides the pears, we ate our first radishes (K got one and I got one) - yum, yum.  the garden is looking good.  the marionberries are flowering beyond belief!

marionberries galore

when I left the house this morning it was yellow with some white trim; when I got home this evening it was doeskin with green trim!  well almost - another day of painting and trimming; and then digging into the pergola above the patio; just getting it power-washed has helped immensely.

when leaving ...

upon returning

Dan, our neighbor, is busy hauling away the rounds of the willow tree and the poplars;  should be done by the end of the week, so our little corner should look quite differently when all cleaned up.  then we can get on landscaping that part of the yard as well.  just too many projects!

just watched an interesting TV news report on ?Ted Morgan - WWII veteran who was with the 82nd Airborne at Normandy;  (this is June 6) he and another buddy were both medics on the road where there were walking.  story well done - and an opportunity to once again thank all our vets!  a job well-done.

  1. M/J listened to 2 sermons last night. The Ascension sermon 1st and last week's 2nd. We both agreed there was much thought and personal sharing interspersed throughout sermon A. It was a great take on the disciples mindset. Once again - well done.

We enjoyed the Seal story and it matched what MAW has always said too. One of our local DNR types is a former SEAL...and well, you know...that guy on NCIS-LA is a former SEAL. I want him on my team - given the chance.

Thought perhaps you'd left already for warmer temps. Now that we know your itinerary, we'll pray for safety w/ greater timeliness. It was 98 here today.

The house looks fantastic! Nice color choices.

Happy Trails to you & Kristi Lin!
