ARRGH!
so two nights ago we're watching a DVR'd show - CSI; been keeping it on the Satellite hard drive for the last 18 episodes. also have some of my favorite movies - "The Power of One" - "Shenandoah" - specials of CBS for Walter Cronkite's death - Oprah's "The Sound of Music" cast special - episodes of "The Mentalist" - anyway, great movies, good movies, so-so movies - about 200 hours of them. as we were deciding that we really didn't need all those TV episodes - after all we've seen them - it was time for a little clean-up. I got to the folder I called CSI, clicked on 'edit group' hit 'select all' and then 'delete' ... well, thinking that 18 plus hours of 'space' now became available, I back-clicked and ARRRGH! - I had erased all 200 hours of saved media! after a few frantic moments of panic I called DISH network and explained the situation - knowing that every computer everywhere in the world has a back-up that can never be lost. well, don't believe it. James - the DISH guy who took my call - put me on hold and later informed me that there is no backup. once the satellite hard drive is erased there is no second chance. oh well...
BUT
while I was fretting about my blunder, Karina was heading to our files to find the DISH telephone number, and in the process of searching, a bottle of fine Willamette Valley Pinot Noir falls from the wine rack and onto the floor - CRASH!!!!. Boo Hoo Sob Sob! we got the wine cleaned up, have a clean and polished slate floor in the family room; plus our DISH DVR now has 200 free hours of recording time! guess it all comes out OK. somehow.
remember the hobby horse? it's almost complete. I got the white coats of paint on it - dear Karina saved me from fighting the detail work and she's doing all the black and red features! "Ain't she sweet!!!" this week will hopefully get it in the mail and off to the Z-man! Wish we could hand-deliver it!
forgot a cute story last week. at the children's message the "messenger" was presenting the story of being thirsty (woman at the well Gospel). Asking the regular questions, "How do we use water?" How important is water?" and then the question is asked, "what's it like without water?" and a little 3 year-old responds in an exasperated voice - "DREADFUL!" what a hoot; never know what to expect from the small tikes, huh?
this morning's sermon drew some nice comments - am always pleased when people take the time to say something - hope it works for you who listen to "PoP Church" on any day but Sunday. should be on the website by Tuesday, again. from thirst to blindness; really a "humorous" Gospel when you listen to the thought processes going on with the disciples, and the neighbors and the Jewish authorities. take time to look around and see the beauty God provides!
have a great week!

Mid-week church happened this morning ... a little later in the week than normal. We've already missed several days of 'challenges' to be met. I so enjoy the challenge you put before your parishioners (and your followers).....will find my Bible right now and open it to John 9...ready for action/prayer/healing touch/noticing/thanks. I liked the gum under the seat comment too...although my MAX riding day experiences had me more focused on the people than the gum. (But, I was an out-of-towner).
ReplyDeleteI can understand the comment about 'comments after church'. They 'got' the msg. I did too.
thanks.
ReplyDeleteand if you see this before you head over to Mom's - give her our birthday greetings as well.
love ya
