I think it's time I get back on track. I guess it's a good news-bad news situation ... good news, I'm ready to go; bad news, not sure there's much to share. you'll be the test group.
Good news! Micah is in the contiguous US! he got back from Alaska fishing waters and now is getting the boat ready for the next season (squid?). And the news gets even better - Carrie and Zephyr are soon to be on their way to Seattle to meet him, then they're renting a car and heading back home to San Diego. BUT not before they stop off in Portland! They'll be here from Sunday through Thursday.
Karina and I are heading for Missoula, MT to preside at Kristi's fiend, Meagan's wedding at the Holland Lake Lodge, (Condon, MT). Cool place if you google it - Nana will be here and we'll all go out together, leaving on Thursday. Wedding is Saturday. Will be back either Sunday or Monday. Looking forward to the trip as well as the wedding. They're always fun! Even if I cry ...
A funny thing happened at church yesterday ...
When I got there (we're in the gym yet for summer services) there seemed to be a pretty wide aisle between both groups of people. Normally it's about 6-8 feet between sides, but the front row started at about 10-12 feet in front and with a "V" shape it got to about 20-25 feet in the back! When I stood up to do the opening announcements, it really looked weird! My opening comment was something like,"perhaps I should be speaking on the 'separation at the final judgment!'" It really looked silly - but God's grace brought us together once again.
One past piece to share ... while at Erfurt we were enjoying a brewski in the town commons and during the evening this musical performance group (a brass quintet? or was it a sextet?) start playing "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring." By the time I remembered I had my video cam with me, they were just about done. Then the trumpeter picks up his piccolo trumpet, and you can't believe the sound. Hopefully, the videos do justice! I gave them 5 Euros - the most generous I ever was. hope you enjoy it.
Love ya,
d.
AND...did you plan to attach a snippet of this concert. Your loyal readership hopes you'll attach it soon as our appetites are now whetted. Sounds like you have a couple of fun, family events to post. Great news about the SD family coming your way w/ Z. :)
