YES!!!

It happened!  We got Phase 1 done!  No more hauling the equipment down to the church for assembly!  We're looking good!  Even though the day was a bit overcast, and "spritzy" at times, we had a great crew to assemble and arrange the garden boxes for the Community Garden.

Kristi got back from Roseburg and put into action - 4' end-caps

Dave and Marilyn - great couple to work with!

Chris and Neil - father/son team - end-cap for the handicap boxes
even a fancy canopy over the sawyers and drillers!

Jeff, Dick and Bill - "The Installers"

irrigation lines in place - readying for final settings

all done!  22 4'x8'x10"s and 3 handicap boxes!

handicap boxes - 30" high - and REALLY HEAVY!!!

This weekend the ground cover (wood chips) and garden soil are to be delivered and spread.  Our target date is dedication on the last Sunday in April - looking like we'll make it!  I love it when a plan comes together :)

So Saturday turned into a special work day - great crew - and great fun!

Then Sunday we went to Jason's basketball tournament;  a lot happening in his life these days ... he's been in a special home since October - (turned violent at home due to prescription drug anomalies) - but in his re-hab joined a Special Olympics basketball team.  His team got third in their division

receiving his bronze medal - he's 5'11 3/4"!

Shannon (with the green strap over her jacket)

Mike and Shannon both are doing well - but I failed to get a picture of them ... oops.

that's about it from here - have to get ready for Chapel service (1:30)  and Lenten services (4 and 7) yet.

love ya' - from the left coast.

  1. Great to see the 'plan' in the final stages with extra-good-and-plenty worker bees. What a wealth of produce/enjoyment those boxes will provide. How does one avail themselves to a box?

  2. call the office and sign up - $30.00 per box per year - enough to cover a portion of the water and gardening soil - AND users must donate 10% of their crop to "Care to Share", a local agency we work with for our food pantry. There is also a box being tended just for Care to Share as well. Am looking forward to a great start of a new community ministry. A nice was to begin a community connection!
